Our gifted third graders stepped into the shoes of real geologists last week! Equipped with a variety of magnifying glasses, students closely examined an assortment of rocks, minerals, and gemstones.
From tracing the glittering veins of quartz to studying the jagged textures of volcanic rock, the classroom was buzzing with students' claims of their favorite gems! It really is incredible to think that the Earth naturally creates all of these beautiful specimens for us to enjoy!
Students also had the chance to act as paleontologists by pressing objects into air-dry clay to craft realistic fossil impressions. Later, they dusted them with cocoa powder to make the hidden details pop. They turned out SO good!
