Students recently created a slideshow about their assigned planet. When students make slideshows, they learn about more than just the assigned topic. Students learn a variety of technology shortcuts that will benefit them in their future. Shortcuts such as ctrl+c and ctrl+v are invaluable "tricks" that will serve them well as their writing requirements increase in high school and beyond.
Students also used a styrofoam plate to create a "smoosh" painting of their assigned planet; and later, we had fun splattering on our stars :)
