Space plants UPDATE! And mad libs.... and space weights...

We FINALLY have some sprouting from a few of our plants! Of course, this process is going to take longer than normal growing due to the difference in growing conditions. It's pretty cool that we are growing plants in a dark closet with only grow lamps. No soil. No flowing oxygen. No added water. The students think its pretty awesome too!

Also, we completed spaced-themed mad-libs that turned out extremely silly! It was also a good review lesson on adverbs, adjectives, nouns, verbs, and plurality. Next, we had some fun by calculating what the weights of famous people would be on each planet. We found the weight of Shaquille O'Neal, Simone Biles, Lebron James, Taylor Swift, and the President. Quite funny! Lastly, I brought my scale from home and they students were able to determine their own weights on each planet. Many weighed only as much as a chihuahua on Pluto (dwarf planet, of course)! They got a real kick out of that!

We are quickly wrapping up or short space unit! Just a few more fun activities to do.
